Rip Van Twinkle, called Rip for short, is a firefly that Horace sent through the Fel'Daera.

On Tuesday, May 19, Horace sent Rip through the Fel'Daera to test whether it would have any effect on living things. When Rip emerged the next day, Horace continued sending him through the box, rationalizing that it was extending his lifespan, and noticing that it seemed to have no adverse effects on him. As this went on, the timing got later and later; by the following week, Rip was already starting to arrive after 12:45.
The day after Chloe's first visit, Horace didn't send Rip, so his cycle of sending was shifted earlier.
