Loki is the Andrews family cat.

Description[]

Loki is an indoor/outdoor cat who lives in a house on Bromley Street with his owners, Mrs. and Matthew Andrews, and their son Horace. Loki is a black cat; his eyes are described variously as "golden" and "dark".

Personality[]

Loki enjoys rubbing people's legs. He scratches or calls at doors to get people's attention. The author describes him as "laid-back". He regularly enters Horace's room late at night to watch experiments or secret meetings.

The Andrews family generally tries to keep Loki inside, but occasionally he gets out and prowls the neighborhood, though usually for less than a day.

Relationships[]

Horace F. Andrews[]

Loki seems to be Horace's cat, as he regularly sleeps on Horace's bed or watches what Horace is doing.

Jessica Andrews[]

Jessica often talks to Loki, and jokes about him being "dangerous" outdoors.

History[]

When Horace returned home after visiting the House of Answers for the first time, Loki was inside; he was also present for Horace and Jessica's chess game later that evening.

While Horace was first discovering the properties of the Fel'Daera, he noticed a future Loki roaming the backyard. After he noticed that Loki was inside, he had a difficult time getting to sleep. The next evening, Loki escaped through the back door.

When Horace had his first long conversation with Chloe, Loki watched. At one point, Chloe passed her hand through him, which startled him upright.

Trivia[]

  • Loki is named after the author's cat of the same name, who is "not quite as laid-back as the fictional one".
